Dolores Littles - Biography

This self-taught graphic artist took an early retirement from her job and began a successful career as a silk painter. Her silk portraits have appeared in two acclaimed books on silk, and her ties and scarves have been very popular. She has taught silk painting to a small stable of students (including the wives of two Hollywood entertainers). Together with a fellow artist, Dolores also successfully co-curated two Fiber Art Shows at The Second Street Gallery in Santa Monica.

Even though she had garnered success as a silk painter, her artistic focus shifted when she discovered hand painting on clear glass. She found the beauty of glass painting much more immediate than painting on silk. Fortunately, she is able to combine her graphic artist and silk painting skills very successfully in this medium. After two years of focusing solely on reverse glass painting (but still missing some of the sensuality of silk painting), Dolores developed a style that allows her to use both hand painted glass and silk together. That combination - which is featured in her framed reverse-painted glass pictures, has been stunning.

Her glass plates and pictures have been shown at the Primavera Gallery in Ojai; Almost Paradise in Laguna Beach; Silky Way Gallery in Los Angeles; Raw Style on Montana in Santa Monica and the Palos Verdes Art Center. She also exhibits at the Contemporary Crafts Market in Santa Monica and Banji Face in Los Angeles.
